The Grace M. Pickens Public Library provides public computers for Internet access, word processing, printing, scanning, research, education, and job searching.
Use of library computers and Internet access indicates acceptance of this policy and all library rules.

Internet Access
The library filters public Internet access in compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and all applicable state and federal laws.
While the library provides Internet access, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of information found online.
Who May Use the Computers?
Who May Use the Computers?
Users must:
Be 18 years of age or older, or
Have a parent or legal guardian sign an Internet Use Agreement on file.
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian while using library computers.
Computer Rules
Computer Rules
Users may not:
Damage or attempt to damage library computers or equipment.
Change hardware or software settings.
Install, download, or delete software.
Violate copyright laws.
Use computers for illegal activities.
View illegal or prohibited material.
Harass, threaten, or disrupt others while using library computers.
Failure to follow these rules may result in loss of computer privileges.
Computer Time Limits
Computer Time Limits
Computer use begins 15 minutes after the library opens.
All users are automatically logged off 15 minutes before closing.
Computers are available first come, first served.
60-minute sessions when others are waiting.
Maximum 1 hour per person per day.
Exceptions may be made for:
Job applications
Résumés
Employment training
Other staff-approved needs
No more than two people may use one workstation at a time.

To use a public computer, users must:
Log in using their own library card or guest pass.
Have an account in good standing.
No overdue items that cannot be renewed.
Have less than $5.00 in fines or lost material charges.

Need something printed from home?
Email your documents to gracepickenslibrary@gmail.com and library staff will print them for pickup.

Parents are encouraged to:
Discuss safe Internet use with their children.
Talk about the dangers of sharing personal information online.
Supervise younger children while using library computers.

The Grace M. Pickens Public Library complies with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), which requires public libraries receiving certain federal funding to use technology protection measures (Internet filtering) and maintain an Internet Safety Policy.
Failure to Comply
Failure to Comply
Failure to comply with this policy may result in:
Suspension of computer and Internet privileges
Financial responsibility for damaged equipment
Charges for repair or replacement of equipment or software
Referral to law enforcement when illegal activity is involved
